As a prior poster pointed out, it could just be that math and science don't come easy to him and he'll need to work harder in those subjects to get the results he wants. I wouldn't jump to the $50,000 solution just yet unless you already are considering private school.
The pandemic has been over two years. That’s not the issue. Op have him tested and look into tutors. Talk to the school.
