I ended up going w chrome and I think It looks great in the primary bath. You can still find luxury stuff in chrome if it’s what you like. I just liked it better.

PN in 3 bathrooms - chrome shows to many fingerprints

Chrome has a nasty tendency to pit.

Chrome is more historically accurate for you.

No, it’s fine.

PN looks so much better, Chrome looks cheap imho. We used chrome in kids bathrooms but PN in kitchen and primary bath.

No, totally fine to do different metals in different rooms. With that said, nickel is a more traditional finish that might vibe better with a claw-foot tub.

Also re: your house, I think chrome took off in the 20’s. So definitely close enough to feel appropriate in your house.

It’s a little cooler but don’t let this be a big deal. It’s not. As long as it’s high quality, chrome is lovely and practical.

Chrome tends to have a cooler undertone (more modern basically). I prefer BN.

Planning on it for our kitchen but we used chrome in the bathrooms.

We strongly considered PN for our bathroom renovation but went with chrome for the following reasons:
-Dependent on manufacturer, but PN can be a nightmare to clean and maintain
-Less visual consistency in PN from one manufacturer to another (our bathroom is quite small and we didn't want metals that were trying to match but didn't to be so close together)
-Much less variety available in PN unless you can swing $$$ made to order fixtures like Waterworks

Has anyone gone with polished nickel over the more affordable chrome? What were your reasons? I am looking to refresh two bathrooms in a 1910s house, going for a classic vibe with hex tiles etc, to make it look like the baths relate back to their original design. Several design-savvy friends have expressed a preference for the nickel, which is about 30 percent more.
