Go to the Science Museum or the Children's museum instead. Your kids will get much more out of that than a tour around a college campus.

I don’t know what you mean by paid tours.
If you mean the official school tours then no. It’s going to be distracting and slow down the tour for the high school students.

I might not do it with kids that young, but it’s a great thing to do with slightly older kids. It’s not about them going there in the future. It’s about seeing a place that has played a big role in US history. It’s not that different from taking them to see Lexington and Concord. My kids had fun seeing Yale and Stanford.

I would not waste a day in Boston on a college tour (presumably you're just walking around campus self guided) with a preschooler and young ES kid.
There's so much fun kid stuff they'll enjoy much more in Boston.
And it's only a "cool idea'" for you.
Do you have a connection to MIT or Harvard?
Maybe do a drive by or drive the campus.

You’ll get something out of it, so if you want to do it, then go. If you genuinely want your kids to get something out of it, you need to wait til they are older.
