Blame Congress and their ridiculous cap on Medicare funded residency positions. Because of this, the admissions process has become bananas. They essentially expect people to practically be experienced healthcare professionals already in addition to having perfect stats.

Fantastic! Not easy to get good shadowing experiences now. So many doctors refuse because of Covid protocols or because their practices don’t want students observing patient interactions.

Yes it is very very difficult. My kid is M2 and loving every moment but I don’t think she misses the app process and MCAT.

This is something kids would know better than parents. Have your DD ask around and reach out to advising office.

I am PP who made a recommendation. I think what helped her test score the most was using the Kaplan books, taking lots of practice AAMC tests and doing section reviews on Khan Academy.

Which prep course do you recommend?

Prep courses help but no short cuts.

My DD had a good experience with Ingenious. She found the help crafting a list and mock interviews especially helpful.
