If you want to travel, do it on the oldest kids spring break and pull the other two out. Through elementary school this shouldn't be too big of a burden. But it's also fine to not travel.

I think it depends on the kids. If a kid could handle missing some school and easily make up the work I would feel ok pulling to go on a vacation - I agree this is easier in elementary than as kids get older. I wouldn't do this if the kid was struggling in school no matter what age then I would prioritize school.

My parents would take me to an academic conference every year (both were in the same field and this was THE conference in their field) leading me to miss some school (~3 days-week) and it was NBD but I was an excellent student.

I send them to relatives.

Pull the younger kids out of school to travel.

Growing up, my dad was a college professor, which has different spring breaks than public schools where I live. We traveled during his spring break nearly every year, at least through middle school.

Localish, long weekend trip for each. High school kid’s schedule trumps younger kid’s.

Parent-child bonding vacation while the other parent stays home and handles the other kids. I don’t believe in having kids miss school for random vacations - only for important things like family weddings in another country etc.

My spouse is a professor with a different spring break than our kids in public school. We don't travel, or we just do a long weekend that fits around the college class schedule and stay home the rest of the week.

I have 3 kids and we will have conflicting spring breaks. At some point, I may have 3 kids at 1 public and 2 different privates so may potentially have 3 spring breaks, 3 different start and end dates.

Have special time with the kid who is off. Or try to not be in that situation..lol

We’ve stopped traveling for a while. One in college with very early spring break. Our HS senior doesn’t want to travel without the college kid. We may do small day trips but we’ve put the big spring break trips on hold for a while.

Depends on ages - If all elementary or at the latest middle (maybe 8th) I would pick a week (probably the week the oldest has break) and go. We took our son out of school for a week ski trip every year until he was in 10th grade and the makeup work was too much. We got permission from the school and teachers and made some wonderful family memories. He is 19 now and it didn’t hurt him; he is a junior at Rice in Houston and thriving.

Well, we are too poor to travel for spring break but I guess with affording all that private school tuition, that's not your issue.
