If you are meeting performance standards in your mid-year and end of year reviews, you should be fine. If you’re not, I would be mildly concerned.

I’ve never heard of anyone let go at a year to avoid making them permanent. That’s bizarre OP.

I have fired feds within the first year, but it’s always been within the first few weeks / just really clear it was not a fit.
