It’s technical fairly easy to do, but addressing it would shatter many powerful people’s lives.

Here is the first line of the article, which is behind a paywall.

"Maternal deaths surged to the highest rate in nearly 60 years, data showed, exacerbating a years long trend that has made the U.S. the most dangerous place among high-income countries to give birth."

They won’t snd don’t care. The article specifically states that Black women are the most affected. When was the last time conservatives cared about Black women? Now if the most affected were young, white women there might be concern from that group. Sigh.

Yup. Life expectancy was dropping for many demographics before the pandemic and the pandemic had accelerated that trend. It’s super disturbing (and well documented, most famously by Angus Deaton and Anne Case) but to take the issue seriously is anathema to the powerful, it would shatter their self-serving lies.

Oh did you think they meant best patient outcomes? No, they never meant that. The best healthcare system for making the largest profit and the widest gulf between what we could provide vs what we do provide, yes, it’s best for that.

Pregnant women need to be vaccinated for Covid, and encouraged to do things which decrease the chance that they get Covid while pregnant - masking, social distancing, etc.

Pregnant women and their developing babies are at higher risk for severe outcomes if they get Covid-19, and now a large, international review is helping to underscore how devastating those risks can be.

It's going to go even higher in the next few years.

This also happens when you ban abortion. True facts. Look it up. In 2020, 62% higher rates of maternal death rates in abortion-restricted states.

This is sure to rise.

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/articles/2022-12-14/report-maternal-mortality-has-been-higher-in-abortion-restricting-states

And countries that loosened abortion restrictions see decrease in maternal deaths.

Yes we know the forced birthers say some of these deaths are among women and girls seeking illegal abortions, so they deserve it, saves the states from having to prosecute and ise the death penalty for these women and so on.

‘Murica!

One of the many evils of for-profit health care is that profits will always win. Gotta keep those shareholders happy.
