There are clothing stores online that specialize in more masculine items that fit female-born bodies.

You might look at Wild Fang or TomboyX (disclaimer -- I've never bought from either, just seen ads; can't speak to quality or price).

I wish I could find a source for more feminine looking clothes but made for a man's body. Women's clothes have lots of flaws that men's clothes don't, such as the sleeves on tops being way too short and no pockets or shallow pockets in pants. I want pretty colors, flowery patterns, etc but that fits a man's body. There are some in men's departments but not a huge selection.

Is he friendly with other trans boys at his school? He’s what - in seventh grade? Is there an eight grade trans boy he would feel comfortable asking for clothing advice?

Just putting it out there that I'm a pretty androgynous/masc presenting lesbian and I have a lot of luck shopping in the men's section at Marshall's and TJ Maxx. From casual to more dressy - I like it.

I really looked for something similar with my trans daughter when she came out. Our body shapes were so different and shopping ended up being really stressful. I wasn’t used to shopping for a daughter! But I couldn’t find anything. If she’d been open to support groups, she probably would have found teenagers there who would have helped. But she wasn’t. So, I ended up buying a lot of things online or returning a lot of stuff. Now, it’s been a while, and I have a better sense of what she likes, and she finally seems more comfortable being out and shopping.

A lot of kids are really into thrift stores. Does he have a friend who would go thrifting with him?

It's been years since any of us (two parents, teen boy, tween girl) stepped into a store. We shop online and figure it out. I think your son should learn to do the same.

Not really trying to "rope" anyone into anything. Simply wondered if anyone knew of someone who might specialize (or at least has experience) in helping a trans kid feel less gender dysphoric when trying on clothes. Trust me, my son knows how to shop online, I'm just tired of sending stuff back!

We've done A LOT of online shopping and usually have to send things back. It is navigating his chest while trying to minimize the hips a bit etc.

Do you know a nice older teenage boy you could ask to do this? Maybe pay for it as a service?

That's a great idea, thank you.

What kind of clothes, OP?
I can't think of the kind of store my teens would shop at that would have a personal shopping service ... Or even helpful salespeople

Hello,

My 13 year old trans son would like to get some help shopping for clothing (other than his Dad and me) but is embarrassed/hesitant to ask for help from store employees. He's afraid he'll be judged and rightly so, I'm sure.

Does anyone know of a personal shopping type service or individual that is super LGBTQIA+ friendly? Maybe stores don't really do this any longer but Nordstrom used to have a free personal shopping service.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give!
