There are apps (free) to study for the MD lerners permit.

You have to take the class though, and I believe Greg's is the least expensive (I Drive Smart most expensive, Potomac Driving after that, then Greg's). The only down side to Greg's v I Drive Smart, is there is no flexibility, you MUST attend every class. With I Drive Smart, if you have to miss class #3, you attend class #3 from another session

I feel like we taught our kids to drive the cheapest way possible. They studied on their own for the learner's permit test and practiced driving with a parent in an empty school parking until they were ready for the roads. Then they drove to and from school every day, with parent in passenger seat. In summer, they drove to/from work every day, again with parent in passenger seat. So I think you need to find someone with a car who is willing to act as the parent. I bet a retired person at a local church would volunteer to do this. Just call around and ask if they will advertise your need in the church bulletin.

We live in PG county and use Leap Driving Academy in Greenbelt/College Park for online class and 6 hours behind wheel. I think you can choose to just pay for the online class. https://myleapdrivingacademy.com

I know you said you were in Rockville but sometimes things in PG are cheaper.

Don’t laugh but Tinder might be best solution. I only say that as I was low income from 18-21 and I thought my equally low income girlfriend how to drive in my $400 dollar car. She took drivers test in that car. I drive her to get learners permit too.

But can’t you help? Or anti neighbor or friend?

Thanks---we are helping with so many aspects of this situation that there are just some things I can't take on for the sake of my own kids and my own job.

They're all expensive. The best option by far is to pay for the minimum required of beginner adults (I don't know what that is), and get the rest from a relative or friend for free.

Looking for recs for driving instruction for a college student who is recently homeless (family was evicted from family home). She really needs to learn to drive. Does anyone know of any driving schools that are lower cost in the Rockville area?
