I went to a huge flagship state school and adored it. I came from the boonies and I embraced the big, wide world with open arms. So many opportunities, so many majors and classes, so many sources of info. I earned two major scholarships while there that sent me abroad including a Fulbright. It was awesome. I did learn that I'm not a person who enjoys sharing a bedroom.

I did the exact same thing… commuted 15 minutes. Worked 20 hours a week. Decided I hated it after a year and doubled down on classes just to get that phase of my life over with. In hind sight, what would $30k have been to life on campus for 4 years (graduated about 10 years ago). $30k doesn’t seem like much these days, but it looked like an insurmountable mountain when I was 18-21.

Huge regrets on this.

I wish I had chosen a different major, when I realized I no longer liked mine. I wish I had reached out for help when I was suffering with depression. It’s so obvious now when I look back on it. I also wish I had used career services to help me figure out what to do after I graduated. I really struggled to figure out what to do with a degree in a subject I no longer felt passionate about. Basically, I just wish I had learned how to ask for help before my mid 20s.

Partied entirely too much. Way too much. Wish I would have made connections with professors and non-partying students. Go Dukes!

None actually! All my dumb choices were after college.

I loved my college experience- I worked for the newspaper, took interesting classes. I did drink way too much, and, even though I loved my school, I wish I went to a better recognized college. Oh well.

I wish I had gone to a smaller residential college. I was quite shy and never really felt like I fit in at the school I was at. I also wish I had just known more about the resources available. I don’t remember ever talking to an advisor.

I wish my social anxiety had been better managed, I wish I was more willing to take risks, and as a first gen college student I wish I’d had more emotional support, either from the school or my parents.

I wish that I had worried less about my GPA and taken more classes outside my major. College should be about more than just job training. It’s a time to explore lots of different subjects and find out who you are.

Similar to the above, I worked in a drudgy work study job. I guess I could have found one where the money was not as good but it wasn't soooo visibly drudgy.
