This. There’s Wi-Fi everywhere. Can use iMessage, FaceTime and WhatsApp.

If you need it for driving, you can download offline maps.

Also T-mobile includes international roaming in their data plans.

T-Mobile is great. Have done multiple trips using their free texting/slow data and it has worked great. Data is fast enough for Whatsapp calls, and if you download maps beforehand, you are all set for directions.

Verizon is $10 a day. At least it was 3 weeks ago.

NP here. Verizon was still $10/day in Europe as of last week too!

I didn’t like the Sun switch because I wanted my phone to stay like my phone with the Same number etc. I paid the Verizon $10 per day in England for my phone and my kid used my hotspot for her IPad. So we got 2 devices for only only $10 a day. Not sure how many devices can use one hotspot but it’s something to look into. Especially if you will have WiFi some of the time too.

Super easy to switch out. Just make sure you put your original SIM card in a safe place-ask me how I know.

If your phone is SIM unlocked, you can buy an e-sim like Airalo before you leave, and set it to begin service on arrival. Or you can buy a local prepaid SIM when you arrive. Both are much cheaper than $10/day, but you will temporarily have a new phone number during your stay, and it will be a number in that country.

So my son was just on a trip abroad and we paid $10/day for the phone to work there (global pass/comcast). Is there another way that people manage this? I'm thinking about a potential trip this summer where there will be several of us and we will be abroad for multiple days?
