Thanks for giving me hope because that’s where we want to go!

You can see which schools are under enrolled looking at the at a glance sheets and a thread shared here earlier in the year. MCPS BOE shared the enrollment of every school and it showed many under-enrolled and several over capacity.

I will say that unfortunately, some parents seek a COSA because of discipline or social issues and often those kids still have the same issues at their new school. I’ve seen this in private and public schools. Frustrating as a teacher

Family Move- Students whose families have moved within Montgomery County who wish to continue attending their former home school may request a COSA without demonstrating a unique hardship. Such requests may be considered for the remainder of the current school year only, with the exception that students in Grade 11 or 12 may be granted a COSA to stay through high school graduation.

Siblings- When a student seeks to attend the school where a sibling will be enrolled in the regular/general school program, or a special education program, during the year the student wants to enroll.

If you get denied, appeal. If you get denied again, appeal again. If you get denied again, appeal again. Repeat until you get it.

OP, the approach that works is actually qualifying for a COSA, not just wanting to send your kid to a different school.

Has anyone had a successful COSA for middle school? Care to share what approach worked? I am a first timer.
