while i think it's unlikely your doc will have anything to offer beyond IVF, and assuming there isn't a high financial cost to the consult, i think you should do the consult. i don't think there's much an RE can do beyond IVF at this point, but it's worth discussing your options with the doc. they may be comfortable, say, prescribing meds for TI cycles, even though it's unlikely to help much at this point.

Maybe do the consult and try to find a doctor who will look into your panels more in-depth? REs will not do that. But maybe just meet to see what their rec is to keep that door open with them if you meet with another doctor and need to come back for another IUI. Are you open to try mini-IVF? I also had 3 unsuccessful IUIs but then had a miniIVF. I was two years older than you. The mini was great because I didn’t have to have so many hormones but I also only got 3 eggs.

She the doctor still have said IVF if she goes in saying we can’t do IVF? I was in the same boat and everyone is like don’t do IUIs as if there’s some other magical option. For us it was IUI or nothing.

Could you look into natural cycle IVF? It's really not much more involved than an IUI and fewer drugs than a medicated IUI and it's not that expensive.

OP here - yes, did Letrozole and trigger shots with all three IUIs. I know I've been pregnant twice (one carried to term, one very early miscarriage), so I am pretty sure it's just an age/bad eggs/numbers game at this point. Which IVF could help/solve, but as I said it's not feasible for us at this point.

I’m 40 and after 2 unsuccessful IUIs (clomid and trigger) he called me in for a consult and said my option were an injectable IUI cycle or IVF. I had two rounds left with insurance but had the worst time getting the office to do the pre authorization correct and ended up doing a normal IUI and only one injectable. Both failed. My insurance didn’t cover medications so that factored into only doing one injectable round. We didn’t move on to IVF because of cost.

I am 41 and have done three unsuccessful rounds of IUI. I have a consult scheduled with my RE to discuss next steps, but I am sure he's going to tell us to move on to IVF (and possibly offer one more round of IUI). For any number of reasons, IVF is not in the cards for my husband and I. Is there any reason to actually have this consult -- e.g. are there other suggestions/info my RE may share, other than IVF as the next step? I'm at Shady Grove, for what it's worth.
