Haven't been to soccer games in Italy, but I have been in Spain, England, and Argentina (and obviously the U.S.), and generally wouldn't hesitate to bring kids if they're not really little. (I might hesitate to bring kids to an English Premier League game because the tickets are $$$, but that's a different matter.)

If you're concerned about fan behavior, don't buy the cheapest tickets, and do not sit in the curva, agree with the post above.

We went to a Lazio game our first night in Rome last year for Spring Break for FCPS. My kids were 6th and 9th grade. The 6th grader is a huge Premier League fan and loves all things soccer. We had a great time.

We bought tickets directly from Lazio website. We were staying in a family-run boutique hotel and they gave me this advise re stadium areas:

Lazio is a great team, and the game Lazio Sassuolo is an absolute nice game (family friendly) so if you have the opportunity, that is a game to go!

I would not buy tickets for the "curva" , so I would consider either "distinti" or even better "tribuna tevere" or "tribuna monte mario"

if you want to leave the decision to go or not for last minute, you can do that because I do not think the stadium will get filled with sassuolo (so you might want to wait until you are here to decide)

We used a tour company to book all of our other tours etc and they arranged a driver for us that picked us up at our hotel, got us as close as possible to the stadium (still a walk from there) and then told us where we were to meet him for pick up after the game. We were totally jetlagged and know no Italian but we loved every bit of the game and had no issues. We even got stadium food (and my oldest kid has food allergies and they were great helping us through that).

We had been to a DC United game but this was a unique experience.

The only other thing, I think they switched the schedule on us from when we first looked at tickets to when we actually bought them so do check/recheck schedules.

Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan are on a tier above Lazio and AS Roma. Unlikely to be so wild.

I don’t think it’s their big rival, and when I look at other games there are lots of tickets still available. I saw some tickets on something called viagogo but I’ve never heard of that site and of course there’s a massive markup.
I asked my teen if he wanted to go and now he is super excited for it so I’d really like to make it happen but don’t want to pay $60/ticket if it turns out there’s a way to get them for $20 and I’m just not seeing it. Haven't been to their stadium, but I'll say that lots of families bring their kids to football matches in Europe, just not in the ultras section. The last time we went, we sat behind a dad (happily smoking away the whole time) and his little kid.

You aiming for a Roma or Lazio match? Lazio are associated with right wingers, Roma sort of leftist. Not kidding!

In general you are gonna want to stay away from seats in the "ultras" seating sections, but those are normally not available widely, but keep an eye on it. It's not the 80s.or.early.90s anymore, so you don't really get the soccer violence anymore, but better not to be in an ultras seating area generally.

If so, how did you buy your tickets? It looks like stubhub is one option, but maybe not the best? Can you get a taxi easily after a game? Is it just pure insanity and a bad idea to bring a kid especially if you only speak un po' d' italiano? Do they sell food at the stadium? Advice and warnings welcome!
