Kenwood - slightly above your $25k initiation but checks all the boxes.

Kenwood is a country club with a golf course. It costs around $70k to join, so far more than “slightly above” her range. It also costs the same monthly as every other cc ($700 or so).

OP is looking for a club like Edgemoor, but in VA.

Fair enough. But I was thinking of closer in options.

Haha. No. There’s a reason the close in ones are more expensive. Yes you can find cheaper but it won’t be as convenient. You want location you have to pay for it. There are only 2 clubs in Arlington. Washington Golf. and Army Navy.

I want somewhere we my family and I can play tennis and where my kids can swim in the summer….somewhere with decent facilities, some social events and decent food. The pool clubs by me are approximately $1000-$2000 in annual dues, but the facilities are really old and run down and food options are limited to occasional food trucks.

Can a country club business model support an option with say a $25k imitation fee and $5k in annual dues? Is there really that big of a gulf between the expensive country club market and the pool club market?

Sure. Where are you going to get land close in for cheap enough to build this.

Pick the piece you would use the most: golf, tennis, pool, and join a club that specializes in that. A raquet club, a tennis club a membership to a golf course.

I’m on the Main Line and our town has this. It’s a beautiful outdoor pool, tennis courts and clubhouse with great squash & restaurant, and very affordable.

I live in a different area and belong to a club with great pools, tennis, workout and dining facilities. It cost $35k to join and about $7500/year. There are a couple of other similar clubs. This is a great option for non-golfers.

I’m in Alexandria…the closest option is the Mount Vernon CC (but no tennis).

Are there more options like this in Arlington or other close in suburbs?

I wanted to join a country club but there just wasn’t anything I liked/thought justified the cost within a reasonable drive. We get our needs met now by Lifetime. Pool, great gym, steam room, childcare, etc.
