You must be joking. ACPS covered up a rape at this school.
And very few parents at ACPS "demand" anything. They take the crumbs they are given. The ones who do speak out get bullied and called racists by most parents.
One parent showed up at the School Board meeting after the rape was revealed. No one showed up after a giant fight happened at this school. I predict there will be 0 to 2 parents at the next school board meeting.
ACPS is horrendous, but they are intentionally transparent about weapons because it is so clearly a discipline violation and they use it to message to city council that they want the SROs, need police, and need help; yet, they cannot just come out and say they have lost control of the schools, kids are running the place, crime and drugs are rampant, as they would admit failure and have to renege on progressive bona fides of restorative justice and a refusal to expel students. It is truly an unmitigated disaster.
While I disagree that ACPS is transparent about weapons - they have not consistently reported them to the public in this way before - you have a great assessment of the situation.

What power does City Council that Central Office does not have, in this matter?
$$$$$$$
City Council still wants to cut funding for SROs and police presence at schools. They think it is not a law enforcement problem. It is really is insane.
