How did you find a writing tutor? Have you used the tutor for all years of HS? Thank you.

Does your teenager agree to do more work that isn't required?
OP here. DD is so bored and unchallenged in 8th grade, so if JR is more of the same, then yes. It doesn’t look like private is going to work out, and SWW is a crapshoot, so I’m trying to think about how we will keep her engaged. (I admit right now this is about managing my anxiety.)

Yeah, this was kid driven. Kid can see they’re not as strong a writer as some peers and expressed a lot of frustration about lack of feedback from teachers.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:For folks who choose public HS over private and say "I'll save the money and instead supplement the public HS", what types of things do you consider to supplement your child's educational experience?
This is for Jackson Reed but could be any local public.
Well first of all you have it backwards.
Most publics are better particularly in Math & Science. Any religious private is going to be lacking in those subjects compared to public.
Mine went from Private to public we had them tutored in math & science & the language they were taking as our private lacked in those areas. How did I know that? My other kids went to public for HS. So during the summer before freshman year, we knew what our kid needed.
Most publics have curriculum online not all privates do I would start there. And compare the two.
