A student was transported to the hospital when he was found high. I think he had to be cleared by a doctor and the parent had to sign off on a safety plan for him return.

This varies school by school and principal by principal. Some principals are averse to involving MCPD for weed.

On page 25 of the document, it spells out this category of offense, which is a level 3 or level 4 offense.

The reality is it, it's up to the principal and assistant principals on how this is handled and there's a lot of leeway they can have. Some principals take a lax response so your kid might get a slap on the wrist and nothing major. Other principals who maybe have a school community with a more active (i.e. more likely to complain) parent community will be more strict and might lay down the hammer more harshly.

Your mileage will vary, with MCPS unfortunately, because it's so decentralized in this area and they give administration a lot of latitude to make the calls, so there is no uniform or standard consequence with getting caught smoking weed at MCPS, which is a shame.

Vaping? At our MS, it's just ignored when students vape. My kid has seen students vaping as they walk through the hallways, right in front of teachers. Nobody says anything.
