This is such an ignorant post.

This has to be a joke. The most UMC suburb near my hometown repeatedly made national news because so many kids OD'ed on heroin in the 90s. You're kidding yourself if you think your HHI or 401k balance means your kid is impervious to national trends, peer pressure, addiction, anything really.

+1,000,000

I know so many APS parents that have such a frickin' disconnect from what is really happening with their teens and their friends. The same entitled and impervious attitude.

Watch 'Traffic" its a lot like the drug Czar's daughter in the rich white school/neighborhood.

My cousin from Greenwich, CT had to be sent to a treatment center in high school, Greenwich High School.

Lots of poor parts of Arlington, but you probably don't go to them.

We don’t know who these kids were, but you do realize there are a lot of lower income apartments whose residents feed in W-L, right? The school is pretty diverse racially and socio-economically.

If you think this won't hit the rich white crowd or hasn't already, you are a HUGE part of the problem.

This was from several months ago:

https://www.arlnow.com/2022/11/01/exclusive-opioid-epidemic-infiltrates-arlington-public-schools/

“Do you know how it feels to look at your daughter when she can’t move her eyes?”

That’s an Arlington mother, who spoke to ARLnow on the condition of anonymity, about a recent fentanyl overdose her 13-year-old daughter survived. It happened off school grounds, but the mother believes her daughter took the drugs during school hours.

Parents and school community leaders who have spoken with ARLnow say that students in middle and high school are able to access counterfeit prescription oxycodone laced with fentanyl at or near schools.

The mother who spoke to ARLnow said her daughter started vaping nicotine and marijuana in middle school, and by the end of eighth grade, got a hold of counterfeit Percocet — a mixture of oxycodone and acetaminophen — cut with fentanyl.

This is so disturbing:

The initial dispatch went out shortly before 1:30 p.m. for a possible cardiac arrest with CPR in progress after an overdose, inside the county-owned public parking garage. A group of teens was found near the mall elevators on the 6th floor of the garage.

First responders administered the overdose reversal medication Narcan to two people with suspected overdoses and reported that the person initially said to be in cardiac arrest had a pulse but was unconscious, according to scanner traffic.

The fire department established an incident command at the garage and ended up transporting three people to a local hospital via ambulance.

You’re using the occasion of a kid’s drug overdose to make a stupid comment bashing a neighborhood you don’t like? Take a minute and consider why you’re so bitter and weighted down with that kind of baggage. It’s gross.

^OMG, lady. You think the rich kids don't do this stuff????

Lack of supervision, lots of $ and entitlement + parents who think their angels would never do something like this.

https://www.arlnow.com/2023/03/01/just-in-police-on-scene-of-near-fatal-teen-overdose-in-ballston/

W-L students were also drinking and caught drunk at 9:30 am over there, skipping school.

The drug use at Ballston and near fatal dose is being reported as WL kids too.

Two kids needed Narcan and one was in cardiac arrest.

APS and its parents need to wake up and address this overabundance of substance abuse--during school hours, no less.
