OP. Thanks this is really helpful. I wasn't aware of the summer high school league but it's on my radar now. He will be going into 8th next school year so I still have time but I appreciate the mention. We are in ffx county. I have heard of PGC. Is that any good?

One thing to be aware of for next year iif your son wants to play basketball in high school — most high schools (at least in DC and MD) play in high school summer leagues. Tryout processes vary for rising freshmen from just kids the coach already knows being invited to play all the way to a week of open gyms that constitute a formal tryout. You may want to reach out to the coach of the school your son will attend and ask about this. My son didn’t know about this but was going to high school open gyms as a rising freshman, and one day he came home with a jersey and told us he’d just played in his first summer league game.
