Don't close the card. Just shred it and forget. Close it only if you are paying annual fees.

What card is it? How old are you? Does it have a fee? Does it give you cash back?
Keep it simple. Stop opening and closing them. You need a few and that's it.

Get rid of it. Eliminating the "temptation" will way more than make up for any temporary damage to your credit rating.

I am not good with credit cards so I need guidance. I recently transferred a $5500 balance to a 0% if paid in 12 months card. I only had the old card for 15 months. How impactful to my score would it be to close it? I don't need the old card and don't want the temptation.
