I did until around 6 months, maybe a little longer. I probably would have dropped it if my supply was more robust, but I was skating right on the edge with it. Maybe it was the hormones, but waking up for 20 minutes to pump, and then going back to sleep wasn't a big deal for me. I had a little mini-fridge set up next to where I pumped, and put all the parts directly in the fridge, so I wouldn't have to worry about cleaning and storage until the morning. My plan was to stop whenever it became a hassle, and to supplement with formula, but this ended up working for me.

For me it made a big difference in my supply. It was my biggest pump of the day. I stopped when I went back to work-6 months.

Yes. For the first six months, I use the medela hand Pump to pump 4-8 ounces at night. It keeps my supply up and allows me to build a decent freezer stash for when I return to work. If I didn't have return to work, I wouldn't do this.

No. You don't want to train your body to make milk when your baby isn't nursing.

My baby has always taken a feed during the night until recently and it did affect my supply. I’m naturally and over producer, but I dropped to average and less than average after the night feed stopped. I did recently pump middle of the night and it helped bring back the supply.

Nope. I’ve been exclusively pumping for 9 months now and stopped the middle of the night pump when my son started sleeping through the night at 3ish months. It didn’t affect my supply at all.

Do you pump over night if your baby is sleeping more than six hours? Do you pump overnight if the baby sleeps through the night?

I did not after my first was sleeping through the night at ten weeks and it really affected my supply. I am wondering if I should include a night session if my baby does the same.
