How can they remove me? The main problem is the stuff, the extra kid does not happen often - a few times per 6 months, BUT pulling kids into one room because the stuff hours do not match the daycare hours is a problem. The daycare used to work till 6 pm before COVID, the licence say 6:30pm , when we join it was till 5:30 and parents had to fight to move it to 5:45 with some increase in tuition

What do mean, how can they remove you? If they are found to violate staffing ratios (or are worried about a licensure report because of a parent complaint) and can’t/won’t hire additional staff right away, then they will need to drop some families to come into compliance. That may or may not include you. Or if it’s really only an issue after 5pm, they may cut back their hours again.

Shall I try to properly document it with videos and pictures as they can always say- the parent is confused but both me and my husband noticed, the other parents do not seem to care much about it though

The other parents are probably not mentioning it for the same reasons you're not -- they know they'll have to pay more if they do. I would probably just move to a new daycare; I wouldn't feel that my kid was safe without adequate staff. But it's always a judgment call; spots are hard to find and care is expensive.

They probably won’t act based on your report alone, they will do an unannounced inspection and count ratios for themselves.

What are DC’s required ratios? I’m in VA so not familiar with DC.

This is absolutely not typical for DC. My daycare sometimes pools classes at the end of the day but they are ALWAYS strictly within staffing ratios, almost always with more teachers than required around.

I thought about it, but they are cheaper than anything around and they are conveniently located. I did not know if it is a big deal, that's why I am here to figure it out

So ask what their licensing requires and find a new place.

Inwouod start by talking with the director. This is not typical. Our daycare is very careful to always be within ratio. If it doesn’t improve, report it to the licensing authority.

My daycare violates the child to teacher ratio on a regular basis. My child is in 12-24 months . At least 5 times over the last two months, I have noticed 9 kids in a room with only two teachers present with some new child whose is out of town and traveling with his mother. Moreover everyday the teachers are rushing to leave the daycare at 5pm and since the daycare opens till 5:45pm they put all kids whose parents have not picked them up yet (12-36 and up sometimes) in one room My husband count 12 kids of various ages and only 2 teachers present. Is it typica; to other daycares as well? My concern is if they disregard that rule, what other rules they ignore ?
