Many schools don't have wait lists for extended day, so check that first.

For 22-23 people who were already enrolled had preference to reenroll and then new families were put in a separate lottery if there wasn't enough space for everyone. If you don't get in you scramble and figure out an alternative.

Is Extended Day something you have to lottery into each year? Or once you are in and use it do you automatically get a spot each year? What do you do if you do not get in?
