This may or may not be helpful but it was very smooth when we moved from a DC charter to MCPS in elementary. The IEP basically transferred over and we had an IEP meeting to make sure they were meeting his needs in the first week of school.

I am interested in this as well. We might be moving from a private school to public and I have read a number of times on this board to hire someone to work with the school to get an IEP in place. We've had educational testing and an IEP in private school but don't know how it works in public. Is the alternative to let your child struggle for a year then the school agrees to an IEP?!

Interested in any recs for an educational advocate to assist with IEP for rising 9th grader who has been in private school and switching to MCPS. Thank you so much.
