There is a local political group that was formed specifically for APS school topics. Who they run/endorse for school board and the issues they focus on are very relevant in a discussion about the school board candidates.
Thanks for the response, Jeff. As the PP noted, you were hoodwinked on this one. The candidate, with very close ties to that political group, announced her candidacy an hour ago.
First of all, I just checked the log of deleted messages and the newly-announced candidate was not mentioned in any of them. I think we all agree that the posts I removed were about an organization. We will have to agree to disagree about whether discussing an organization in a thread about candidates is off-topic. I think that it is, especially, if as you say, the candidate associated with that group hadn't even announced as a candidate.
She is the de facto leader of that organization and ran for SB two years ago. Even if someone didn't say her name, we all knew who she is. I don't remember what the deleted posts said, but if we are talking about a SB election in Arlington, that group - and their candidate - are very relevant.
So you keep a log of deleted message? Is that new?
As I said, we will have to agree to disagree about whether discussing an organization in a thread about candidates is on or off topic, especially when no candidate associated with that organization has announced. I assume that you believe it is on-topic but I felt differently.
The forum system logs individual messages that have been deleted, but not threads. The way the messages are logged is not easily searchable and unworkable for most use cases, but it is okay for checking recent deletions.
