I always pick up water bottles from Marshall's or TJMaxx. I don't worry about the brand, but the look and feel. I have a stainless steel water bottle with a folding top handle and a spout with a screw-on lid that I take on the go or to work. I also found a glass one with a silicone sleeve on the bottom and a colorful plastic top that's great for my nightstand. I also have a Yeti tumbler that I carry around the house. I like different ones for different purposes.

I don't think the pricey stainless steel ones with a name brand are necessarily any better than others.

Thanks! I like that it doesn't absorb odors. Right now I'm soaking my current metal bottle in a vinegar water solution to see if I can get rid of the Dawn smell. Gross.

Maybe you shouldn't use Dawn. My dish soap (7th generation) isn't very strong. I think dawn uses perfumes to make you think your dishes smell "cleaner". Clean doesn't need to have a smell.

How often do you switch between the drinking options? That's what's selling me but I'm hesitant we eliminated as much plastic as possible last year. I think the top is plastic while the body is SS?

The straw is easier to sip from while driving or walking so that’s what I seem to use the most. I can’t think of any water bottle options that don’t have plastic lids.

Thanks for this. I was wondering if such a bottle existed. I would be using it primarily while at home and while working out in the gym.

OP here - in the past I have relied heavily on single use plastic bottles of water. I am ashamed of myself, and am working hard to reduce this behavior in general. You too can make a change!

I use a glass bottle with a silicone sleeve (Lifefactory) plus a silicone straw. Those are not leak proof though, so if I'm hiking I use a Nalgene and a silicone straw.

Use dawn, free and clear.

I have a HydroFlask, an older S’well, and a couple of others that I use less frequently. All of them are good for keeping water cold. Most of them hold about 20 oz, so, not huge. I typically was them using Dawn, and haven’t had any problems with lingering odors. About once a week I pop in a dishwasher detergent pod, let it sit for a bit, then rinse it thoroughly. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m told that using denture tablets also works well.

I like the Nalgene regular ones with the screw on cap. I get the narrow mouth one. They are easy and low maintenance

I have a metal water bottle (no name brand) but it seems to hold on to the scent of my Dawn dishwashing liquid. I've tried soaking it, super hot water etc but it still smells.

What do you use? I would use this when working out, and while at home. I see women walking around with these ridiculously huge bottles which is what I don't want.
