Actually the OP asked the question based on rankings. I answered. If you want to base your decision based solely on major then feel free. I don’t care if you base it on overall rankings, I am pointing out that the rankings are not a sound argument in either direction. It’s merely one data point and for some a pretty meaningless one.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:This begs the question - are the major-specific rankings accurate?
Are any rankings accurate? Do you believe the rankings that show UVA > UMD but not when the rankings show UMD > UVA?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Well University of Illinois is ranked higher than Harvard, UMD, Princeton, and GT among others. Going to a school based solely on the ranking of the major seems shortsighted. I would go with overall interest in the school.
ha ha. Yea, pick UVA over UMD GATech UIUC for CS. LOL. Please do it. Make room for other kids at those CS focused schools.
There is zero CS ranking where UI is ranked higher than Harvard or GATech. What are you smokin?

Anonymous wrote:Pretty sure there's a thread about this already. Student should go where they'll be happiest. Both are good schools.
Anonymous wrote:Both are great school. UMD is ranked higher for that major but UVA is ranked higher overall. They could change their mind. Let the, go wherever they want.
