OP here: I can confirm that there are no issues with Secret clearance. My clearance came with me when I changed jobs. I understand it becomes ‘inactive’ at some point.

My new position was not what I was expecting. I figured that out 4 weeks into the process. I have been approached by another company with an offer. The cat h is that my present employer is processing a higher clearance for me. Does the clearance process halt if I quit? The upgraded clearance will be useful foe my next position but is not required.
