Look, there's no magic amount of time. It's your house. If your adult kid living with you isn't working for you, give them at least two months notice that you want them to move out. So say "It's time for you to move out. You need to find your own place by April 15th at the latest."

Women I know who moved from their parents house to a joint marital house regret it deeply. It made a few stay in marriages for too long bc they were afraid of living alone, and even those with happy marriages missed the independence. Some things are worth paying for.

That's odd. She needs to be on her own between parental and marital homes.

Just be direct and tell them they meed to experience independent living and you need to downsize.

Charge rent and up the rent every 6 months until they move out.

It depends. If you get along and don't mind living together, why not let them stay? Housing is expensive; perhaps they are saving to buy something. I feel like in today's housing market/rent prices, this is not unusual.
