I really try to set a mentality that I only eat what I bring to work and pretend the rest doesn't exist. This includes coffee (and saves me $). Lately I have been bringing a protein based smoothie that I make at home, plus miso soup packets and find that usually gets me through the day, but I keep pistachios on hand as well. I also have some decadent chocolate truffles at home so I tell myself i have something better at home.

I’m heavier than you and working to lose and stop the yo-yo.

Two things have worked well for me so far in addition to upping my workouts:

1) doing intermittent fasting with a short window. I have coffee (splash of milk) in the AM, and eat between 1:00pm-7:00pm. It really eliminates after dinner snacking which was a big problem for me; and

2) trying to eat 50-90g protein a day. I’m not a huge meat eater so it’s challenging. I get close to goal by having a Fairlife protein milk at lunch (30g protein) plus x2 hard boiled eggs or a yogurt with PB2 (with some veggies and fruit typically). I try to eat white meat chicken or salmon at dinner. If it’s not something too healthy I try to do a smaller portion.

It’s so basic and cliché that small habits will help make a bigger change. For me, because I have a lot to lose, I’m trying to pace myself, and remember that each meal is an opportunity to make a better choice, not each day, because it becomes so easy to just write off a day to “bad” eating if you splurge at breakfast and then give yourself permission to overeat the rest of the day (or at least that was a tendency of mine).

Good luck! Lots of solidarity to you all!

Not OP but following… any other tips out there? Trying to get motivated to get back on a routine and meal plan, but can’t bring myself to do the work again. I’m just kind of fat and scared that this is where I’m getting stuck (175lbs and 5’4” so still overweight)

I'll be at work and someone will get bagels and today I ate two. TWO! I have gained about 10 back and feel gross. I look normal but I hate that I lost that will power. Anyone been there done that? I am 45 so I know I have to get it in check now.

Unfortunately, the food industry makes food addictive and blood glucose spikes makes you crave even more. I learned this by wearing a blood glucose monitor.

I've been really helped by Beck Diet Book - good with mental part of long term weight loss

Good luck

I get it!!

I've kept 30 pounds off for over a year. Ive decided that I will never have Halloween candy, girl scout cookies or mass produced bagels and donuts anymore. If I splurge it has to be good and worth it.

Same boat. I lost 45 lbs and have gained back 10. I’m trying to get back on track, but for some reason I’m really struggling. I need to track to lose weight, but keep eating foods that are difficult to track. It’s tough!

My kids are off next week for break, but hoping to get back on track after that!

I am literally in the same position! I lost my mental mojo. I lost 25lbs and gained 5lbs back. I think most of its water weight, but hate it. I am steadily working out to counteract my mental fitness backslide. Hope you can stay on track with your fitness until you get back in the game. Get refocused be star March us around the corner.

Thank you! Going to work out now and have a meal prep thing for dinner from Vegetable and Butcher. No snacking after. Right? Right!

Probably the best advice one could give. This is my mantra, and it's what keeps me from giving up.
