Why did you decide not to apply, if you don’t mind sharing?

The reality is that it’s always been hard to get into. I’d say the last few years has made it a turn off to some not the other way around.

There are only 24 spots.

But they add 1-4 in 4th or 5th. Call the admissions person and express your desire to attend even if it’s mid year or next year.

I feel like the Heights boys are more varied- meaning lots of different interest compared to Mater Dei.

It’s always been a nice haven for very conservative and smart Catholics and also for boys who can’t handle sit still. Those are the 2 types who attend. Sometimes they even overlap.

+1 - I do not have a child there but the two families I know who are there very nice, respectable and smart kids.

I wasn't saying 3rd is the hardest. It should be the exact opposite, because it's the first grade kids can apply for. Theoretically it should be wide open. Apparently not!

Disagree with that assessment 1000%. I would def do what prior poster suggested. He will have a spot if someone doesn’t not accept for financial reasons

OP, call the school and ask. Others will call. If that is your number 1, let them know.

We applied for 3rd grade and were "waitlisted". Wondering if anyone can share what they know about the size of the waitpool?

We were also informed there were so many applicants with teachers' kids, siblings applying, and alumni, there were only 5 openings available out of the class of 45 for 3rd grade. Which is nuts.

Interested if anyone here heard similar or different informaiton.
