Yes. We got one after someone hit me from behind while I was stopped and lied about every possible thing. The eyewitness in their car said my husband was speeding. In fact I was the driver and we had been stopped at a long light.

People lie!!!

I was also able to help someone else out when they were hit through no fault of their own. Our dashcam captured it all.

It’s cheaper than your deductible!

Just ordered a Viofo A139 Pro. Looks like it has pretty good image quality, 4k 30fps. I was just trying my current dash cam and didn’t realize how bad the image quality is. Like vhs or something.

Someone just ran into my best friends car and totaled it. Got out of their vehicle and ran away. Not smart. I hope they find the person-unless the car was stolen. But still.

Worth the investment? You can buy one on Amazon for $50. Yes, it can be helpful in an accident.

But it's also annoying that I have to put it up and take it down everytime I get in/out of the car. Because otherwise some will smash my window for it.

Are people really smash-and-grabbing these things? Most of them are like $100. Not sure there is a robust secondary market.

Yes I have one.. I worry about someone hitting me and me being blamed for it. It's an older one but it is tiny. Sits in front of the rear view mirror and I forget it's even there.

Worth it? I suppose it is if you ever need it to prove what happened in an accident. I have one and have never “used” it. It’s always on when the car is on. It’s kind of like an insurance policy, it’s there if you need it. I don’t have a rear facing camera though and that might be at least as valuable as a forward facing o e.

Does anyone have a dashboard camera - and find it worth the investment?
My neighbor recently had someone pull in front of them, and reverse into their dashboard. Apparently in an effort to get insurance money.

With Maryland being an at fault state for anyone you rear end, we’re thinking of getting cameras for the cars. Just to protect ourselves if this ever happens.
And ofcourse with car insurances increasing every where.
