First, you might try using the college book, "Rugg's Recommendations on the Colleges, 35th edition. " Rugg recommends colleges by major, 140 college lists. Go to www.ruggsrecs.com.
Good luck.

I do. And I'll recommend him. But I'm annoyed that every single time I do, yahoos on this site try to claim I am the counselor trying to drum up business Just childish. FWIw, I am a divorced dad who did a lot of work trying to find a good counselor for my DS. I researched the field. I read Andy Ferguson's book (now dated). I checked ratings services. I knew I didn't want a $40K+++ flat fee person. I picked Richard Montauk, who has written a number of books in the area. My son liked him and still uses him for grad school applications. I have stepped out of the picture. I never saw the essays. Richard didn't write them, DS did, but DS felt confident that Montauk made improvements. The total bill was something like $3600 five years ago. DS is now using him for an application on doctorate work. And now the yahoos will say I'm Richard but Jeff, the moderator, can confirm where I live and where Montauk lives (he lives long distance - I actually don't know where he lives but it's somewhere north of DCUM). Good luck. RichardMontauk.com. My advice is to try to find an hourly person.

We used Foundry Admissions. The price was right for us and they were more concerned with our DD ending up somewhere she'd fit more than being in a name brand school. I probably could have done all of the research myself but it was way easier to hire someone and not have to nag her myself.
