Creating a group, making a slide presentation and having a Google doc sign on a school-owned chrome book - and against LGBTQ students is a HATE CRIME. It is not a 1st amendment right. It was found by a teacher during class. This is highly concerning.

Your definition of ‘hate crime’ seems rather broad.

Different cultures have different views on LGBQT issues. These kids may come from a different culture that you, and simply talking about their views is not necessarily a hate crime.

I'd be interested to know the ethnic background of the kids involved. There is quite a bit of anti-LGBQT sentiment within the very Catholic Latinx community and Wood MS is a predominantly Latinx school.

Wait-reading the letter it’s not clear at all the kids are homophobic or did anything hateful. They could be gay themselves and using “homophobic” tongue in cheek. I just heard on the local radio station news that a secret homophobic club was started or being started and a teacher found out. What the heck is happening in MCPS middle schools. These kids are just terrible.
