+100 and I'm an accomplished baker.
It is disappointing when something doesn't come out and isn't worth the calories.

What was the mint flavoring? Creme de menthe? I'd just make a box of ghiradelli and add a layer of peppermint patties if I had a chocolate mint craving.

Who am I kidding. When I have that craving I just inhale a movie theater candy box size of Junior Mints.

This recipe is my go-to and it’s outstanding: https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/fudge-brownies-recipe

The one OP describes sounds too fussy. I love mint and chocolate together, though.

+1 to this recipe. I've made it many many times. I recently made brownies from a Ghirardelli mix and they were not nearly as good.

Same. I've made just okay brownies from scratch but nothing that beats the box.

I'll try to two from-scratch recipes posted here and see how it goes.

Maybe mint brownies work best when the mint is frosting.

I like mint and chocolate together but I don’t think that combo works with the texture of a brownie.

Throw it away immediately before you and the family eat it out of boredom. At least that's what we do.

That’s disappointing! I love mint and chocolate.

You didn’t ask but here is my favorite brownie recipe. Just add in whatever you like. Right now I have crushed peanut butter filled pretzels as a layer in the middle. I will report back if you should try that! You may have all the ingredients on hand right now anyway.

No, and as I was making it I did wonder. But the reviews were all so good. It was a recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction. I’ve made good things from her before.
The ganache just tastes greasy.

I'll never understand the mint-chocolate pairing. I love both separately, not together.

My best friends makes a delicious brownie, though. I use her recipe and mine never come out as good. Maybe it's her pan/oven?

I hate when that happens. Very disappointed in the recipe. The chocolate ganache was made with 1/2 cup butter and a cup of chocolate chips. Way too much butter. The mint layer is so thin , it doesn’t add much mint flavor. A ton of calories, really not worth it.
