For the magnet, suggest you ask the teacher. At Blair, many of the magnet classes have books. Spanish 3 Honors had a book when DC took it, but it was kept in the classroom because they didn't have enough books. I looked into buying the book but it cost several hundred dollars.

I think most schools phased this out sometime in the late 20th century. It's a quaint but obsolete notion.

English and humanities have recommended books like novels. An optional reading list is given out over summer.
If you're referring to textbooks, the classes you mentioned use online resources.
