For every one person who's actually been trained and knows how to shoot and knows how to handle a gun safely and responsibly there are dozens of people who own guns but are complete dufuses who had little or no training.

yes, and because of this, any random kid should be allowed to carry. definitely if there exists one kid that can handle a gun responsibly, all can. it is just plain logic

The bigger question about kids is their decision making and impulse control, not whether they know how to shoot people. Though I’m sure in your sons case his decision making couldn’t be any worse than yours.

It has nothing to do with being able to handle a gun. The issue is whether any young person should be allowed to walk around in public with a gun, even an AR.
