Subject: bathroom floor tile
Mosaic Tile has very little variation in design (basically one format), aggressive sales people and a lot of China production. We couldn’t find anything we liked and couldn’t believe how uneven their tile installations were in the showroom. I found them to be very meh.

I agree the tile shop is a good place to go, but we didn't find staff to be very helpful when we were shopping for floor tile and ultimately ended up buying from floor and decor. the tiles we bought there were US made and considerably less expensive than the tile shop.

FYI. Architectural Ceramics is now Architessa, and the Bethesda outpost is no more. I felt like I had indifferent customer service in both the former Bethesda location and in Rockville (some associates seemed good) but they have a lot of pretty things to look at. I agree the Tile Shop is nice.

To me the main benefit of going to a tile shop (I recommend Architectural Ceramics or The Tile Shop) is that the salespeople are very helpful in terms of suggesting edging, grout, perhaps special coordinating border, etc. Vs Home Depot you are on your own. Which might be fine for you, but I can use the help

That looks great, get samples and compare if you think there might be subtle differences but in terms of durability anything ceramic is fine.

Does anyone have tile places they recommend? We could go with Home Depot of course - they have tile we like - but are curious if there is benefit to going with a specialist or higher-end place. Very small powder room with difficult corner sink and corner toilet placement, so quality tile cutting and placement is important.
For actual pattern, it's a 1940 house and we are looking to more or less match the two larger, original black and white bathrooms, style-wise. So probably traditional basket weave in black/white or possibly cobalt/white, something like this:
