My DD had really thick fluid in her ears. She was hearing us as if she was underwater. For one year, they tried allergy meds and nasal sprays and nothing worked. Finally at age 2 1/2 she got tubes and within six months, all of the fluid had drained out. We also did speech therapy because her speech was completely garbled. Having tubes put in is not a big deal procedure. It’s also something that has an immediate effect on hearing as fluid starts draining immediately. Frankly, I understood why the ENT tried allergy meds and such first, but ultimately the tubes are what did the trick.
