Ps I use it every cold day in the morning while listening to music it’s really nice.

I’d never go get wood and light a fire as often as I use my electric fire place.

Are the gel fuel type allowed in your building? That might be an option if you don’t plan on using it that often.

We have only had gas fireplaces and for the most part never lit them...maybe once every other year at Xmas eve or when there was a winter power outage.

When we sold our last house we were viewing the listing pictures, and marveled at how well the one picture of the fireplace looked as it was all lit. The realtor let us know the Photographer "photoshopped" a fire into the picture.

When we built our current house we were advised to not get a fireplace because they were dirty and a lot more work than my "non-handy" hubby thought they were. We even have a gas firetable outside.

OP here - I think that's how I feel too.

I’m considering it. I had a gas fireplace put in my previous home in 2020 and from start to finish it was over $10,000 and we already had gas there. I’m not willing to pay that again. I saw some nice looking electric ones on Wayfair and I’m probably gonna pull the trigger for one in the next year.

Do you have a link to one like this?

No. I would either want a real fire or nothing at all.

No sorry they’re all bad.

Growing up I had a one crappy one, so unless they've progressed to being beautiful and realistic, no.

We have a wood-burning cast-iron insert for our fireplace, completely enclosed with a glass door so it does not spew fine ashes into my asthmatic son's throat, and it's way more efficient and powerful than a regular fireplace. I can see and feel the fire, but not make my son cough. I love it.

We are moving to a new building and it does not allow gas or wood fireplaces. Would you ever consider an electric one? I so miss having one but would this just leave me disappointed.

TIA.
