Sounds fun/nice for interested kids - but I don't think the school should use limited funds to pay for kids to do/travel to competitions. (unless the participating kid has genuine financial need - and then I think the school does pay?)

I THINK it consists of "classics" (e.g., Latin?) competitions? Teams go around to different schools around the country and all speak Latin to each other?

If that's the case then I am thrilled BASIS is making the few kids in that program pay their own way. It would piss me off if resource were diverted to travel for those kids.

There is a limited selection,especially for the lower grades, and it changes semester to semester and year to year. There are fees to participate in every sport and extracurricular club. The average cost for a once a week after school club with no competition or travel is $50/semester. Spots in all clubs are limited and you have to sign up and pay at the beginning of the semester to grab one.

Then at the bottom of the page, under resources, click “course catalog” for the classes offered to 5-12th graders this year.

Extracurriculars change 2x a year. The current offerings range from painting, personal finance, green club, math/science/Certiman, drama, etc.

Sports- soccer, cross country/track, basketball. There may be more, but those are the ones I know off the top of my head.

The fact that you need to do this also tells you something.

We’re thinking about applying to Basis for 5th next year, but I can’t seem to find anything about clubs, electives or sports. I know that this isn’t the main focus at Basis, but I’ve also heard that they have some of this type of programming. Does anyone where to find out more information about this? The website has very little info that is specific to the DC school.
