Excellent list, and I would add some kind of cookie sheet, that you could use for making cookies, or making pizza

Simple set of pots and pans
- non-stick frying pan
- cast iron dutch oven can could be used as a skillet or a pot (Lodge makes a two piece set that is great - the lid doubles as a skillet)
- a stock pot large enough to boil pasta

coffee maker + filters

silverware
silicone spatula
wood spatula
large serving spoons
can opener
vegetable peeler
cheese grater

3 good cutting boards - two large and one small

colander- fine mesh so you can use it for lots of things
set of nesting bowls with lots of sizes

dishes
- coffee mugs
- small plates
- large plates
- bowls
- glasses - I would probably do a bunch of simple squat glasses that can be used for everything from wine to water to cocktails to milk

foil
plastic wrap
ziplocks
Tupperware

butter dish

Knives
- chef's knife
- 2-3 small paring knives
- serrated bread knife

ice cube tray unless you have an ice maker

dish towels
sponges
dish soap
dishwasher detergent
all purpose cleaning spray
paper towels

chip clips or rubber bands
notepad
pen
roll of tape

We recently bought a vacation home with a very small kitchen and are heading down to stay there for the first time in a few weeks. There aren’t a lot of great stores down there so I’d like bring an initial load of kitchen tools & supplies with us.

If you were starting from scratch what would you put in your kitchen? What are your essentials?
