OP here. Thanks everyone. I didn’t think to take a picture so hopefully the good karma from leaving a note means they won’t take advantage if they do call.

Because they are a responsible person and also know that 6 cameras were recording the scrape.

I would have taken a picture of the note on the car just to document that you left the note but otherwise just wait for them to call you.

No. If the driver calls, they will ask you for your insurance info so they can set up a repair for the scrape. They will make it pretty easy.

I backed up my vehicle on another vehicle not too long ago. I checked it carefully for damage and could not see anything, but took photos in case it was more obvious on a photo than to my naked eye. Didn't leave a note since I didn't see any damage. It is not a good feeling when you touch another vehicle. I was on a very narrow road yesterday when a large truck came around the corner and almost hit me. I didn't budge. The driver chose to take a very narrow road, so he could also figure out how to navigate around my vehicle. I couldn't move without hitting something on my other side. Sorry, not sorry.

I’ve been driving for more than 30 years. Accidents happen, even if you’re trying to be careful. I’ve had to leave notes a few times and no one has ever read me the riot act. They’ve been appreciative that I left a note. My ADHD kid will be driving in a couple years, and I’m honestly contemplating pre-printing notes with my contact information that she can leave if she dings another car because I’m not sure she’ll be able to think straight if she does.

Your insurance company will handle making things right for the other driver.

This happened to me. I didn't scrape it, but I did take off a mirror. When they called me, I told them my last name (I hadn't left that on the note) and who my insurance carrier was. Then I got their name and number and called my insurance.

Then I was done. My insurance handled the rest.

The person was very grateful I left a note, and I was too. My insurance handled it and did not go up since I am a good driver and rarely have these things happen.

Good job, OP! That was the right thing to do. Hopefully you took a pic of their car as well, where the damage was.

No one is hurt so yes a pain but still an accident.

Ugh, after 13 years of driving in DC with zero incidents (excepting other people hitting my parked car), I accidentally scraped by a car on one of those ridiculously narrow streets trying to get out of the way of a giant SUV. It was totally my fault of course. I stopped to check and there is some damage to the other car that I assume I caused because there is a paint scrape on my car. I left a note with my full name and phone number. Do I need to do anything else?
