The specific services depend on what any specific student needs.

ASD does not always run in families. An IEP means that a committee of people decided that a student fell into a category that requires special schooling to help the student complete schoolwork. There are many categories, called eligibilities. They could be LD, physical disability, emotional disability, autism, deaf…on and on.

The written IEP has to be completed each year to map out what the student needs extra help with. It also tells how much of the day the student needs help for. Some kids only need a special class for math. Other kids need help all day, and they stay in the same class all day. It just depends. The law says every student should spend as much time in the regular classes as possible, with kids without disabilities.

An IEP is an individual plan written for each child who needs special education. Some children need a self-contained room. Other children still have a disability, but they can learn in a mainstream class. This is the majority of students.

The important thing to understand is that each plan is different and tailored to the child.

i thought spec-ed is a room, i was special ed EBD level 4, o EBD is the special room?

If you have an IEP, you are receiving special ed. But special ed are services, not a location. So you can receive specialized instruction (special ed) in a mainstream class or in an all disability class.

Someone with CP or ADHD or autism or learning disabilities can all have IEPs/receive special ed.

I don't understand your last question. Sometimes, some people in a family can need IEPs and others don't. And we've learned a lot about disabilities in the last 40 years.
