Probably because the PP doesn't want to pay for the 20yo? I think my carrier requires kids, with a license, living at home, be on the policy.

Didn't know this is a thing. My wife can't drive two of our cars (manual and we've tried and failed to teach her multiple times). Can we save on insurance by having one fewer driver on those two cars?

But if your 20yo drove another car and got into an accident would he be insured? If he borrowed his friends can and got in an accident would he be covered. Couldn't the other person's insurance come after you? This seems like an easy way to set yourself up for inadvertent legal headaches and financial ruin.

I do not think another person’s insurance could come after a 20 year old’s parent (unless the 20 yo was driving the parent’s car) but it could certainly come after the 20 year old.

That makes sense. But why the spouse with a perfect driving record?

I did a quick search and it looks like it's a state policy thing, not insurance carrier. But I can't seem to find what it is for Maryland.

Any rules around this are going to be based on your insurance company, not state law. Call them.

Can anyone tell me what Maryland's laws are regarding listing a spouse as an excluded driver on auto insurance? I have a perfect driving record yet I found out my husband listed me as an excluded driver on the car insurance policy. I was never asked to sign anything nor was I asked to show proof of other insurance coverage. thanks.
