Could it be that you are in "interim status" and they are still figuring it out? That was one of the answers in the list.

That doesn't seem right. Are you a recent retiree and possibly they didn't do the calculation yet? I am a FERS retiree and 96% of my pension is taxable (and has been about the same since I retired a few years ago).

If you are looking at your 1099 received by mail, you might try to log in to your account online and view the 1099 there to see it is the same.


Yes, I did log on and the 1099 is the same as the one they sent. I think I need to ask someone at OPM.

I am trying to figure this out. The 1099R has federal taxes withheld, but no taxable income listed on it (just blank there). So how do I figure out the taxable amount? I scanned the 1099 into TurboTax and they just went with zero. That cannot be right.
