In theory your kid can take chinese at another highschool. The logistics of this are difficult.

MCPS requires 2 years of language. Not 4.

OP, if this is really important to your kid, I would look at dual enrollment. Or, if she's got 2 credits, I would look at options outside of school that allow her to continue the language without earning credits, and list it as an extracurricular.

Talking about Virtual Academy, last year my junior found out they had no Latin classes, so he could not take Latin 3. We got a tutor for him, and he was able to take AP Latin this year as a senior.

I strongly encourage you to do whatever it takes to get your kid to AP Mandarin.

So DC is going to be switching high schools and will not be able to continue their preferred language (Chinese) because it's not offered at the new school. DC really wants to keep it up, and I thought MCPS requires four years of language. Is our only option to just have DC start again with some other language? I can't think of any other way to make it work, and I assume the school won't let her somehow fulfill the language requirement by testing out or in some other way, but wanted to see if anyone had confronted this.
