This does not prepare our children for tomorrow's workplace. What is wrong with these people? Are they luddites?
Yes, they need to advocate something so instead of safety they want to get rid of technology. There needs to be a balance. Textbooks would be great but things like writing assignments are far better on the computer.
The resolution doesn't ban tech. It literally calls for balance and a mixed approach rather than the tech-first and tech-only model that's in place right now in many instances.
There is a mountain of research btw that shows writing things by hand is way more effective for retention and learning. That doesn't mean everything needs to be hand-written, but it does speak to intentionally incorporating handwritten work alongside digital work for maximum outcomes.
