I did not allow my DS to do this, although in reality, who knows if it really happened.

Many teens do this, and, we did not allow it for our two teens (nor did we allow them in a car with another newly driving teen).

My DD doesn’t have her license yet but almost all of her friends do because she is young for her grade. I’ve been surprised at how many drive friends around before they are allowed to. In most cases the parents are unaware though it’s mainly driving back and forth to school.

Have had 3 kids get their driver’s licenses so far. They follow the limitations of the provisional license or they don’t drive. It’s not negotiable for us.

Look up the statistics on the risks associated with newly-licensed drivers having teen passengers. It’s something like having 2 teen passengers doubles the risk of a fatal crash and 3+ passengers quadruples it. These rules exist for a reason.

Do you let your teens drive their friends before their license allows them to? We are in MD and teens are required to have their provisional for 5 months before driving friends. But it seems that many do it before then. Do you allow your kids to do this? What is the legal consequence if they are caught?
